If your plastic item is warped in shipping or if you need a curved piece and your item is flat simply soak in hot tap water for about 60 seconds or so until pliable then apply to gun and hold to cool. Installation of the escutcheon or screw may also be done while the piece and escutcheon
are warm to prevent cracking.
Most of the plastic items are hand casted and may be sanded, filed, reamed, drilled or polished (similar to wood) for proper fitting. Several of the items are injection molded and should be ground down or filed (sanding will NOT work)

The original Colt Government 1911 model has been duplicated by many other manufacturers ( such as Smith & Wesson, Kimber, Ruger, Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Iver Johnson, Remington, Rock Island Armory, Springfield Armory, Sig Sauer, Taurus, Wilson, Combat, Les Baer, Nighthawk, Para Ordnance, and so many more)
AS a general rule, ALTAMONT 1911 Full Size Panels will fit all full size guns made by other manufactures. You may want to measure the space between screws to make sure you have a Full Size 1911. If your 1911 is 3 1/16 between screws, then you have a Full Size. If your 1911 is 2 11/16 between screws, then it is a Compact, Officers, or Defender 1911.
SIG P938
If your Sig P938 has a disconnetor bar raised above the frame or that rubs on your grip, DO NOT USE THE FIREARM
You will need to cut a 1/4" notch on the back of the grip to accommodate it. Verify the correct functionality of your furearm by a qualified gunsmith before use.
From time to time you will find the roll pin that goes through the frame bent where they will misalign the grips with the frame. In these cases we recommend that you replace the roll pin. You may also find the pin is offset and keeping one side of the grip from laying flat to the frame. Simply remove the grips and re-center the pin and reassemble the grips. DO NOT USE THE GRIP SCREW TO FORCE THE GRIPS TOGETHER.
New model Blackhawk grips fit Single Six, Old Army, Vaquero and Super Blackhawk with the rounded trigger guard.
With the old grip off, hook the top of the grip panel under the top of handle and with little pressure press the lower portion into place. Do not force the grip into place. If there is any interference remove that material with a fine file and taper the back edge to allow the grip to swing into place. Place the screw into the frame handle and snug the grip screw against the grip.
These grips will not work with Double Action Only (DAO) Pistols.
In some incidences the 6 point inside the grip panels may need to be trimmed to get the panels to fit properly. This can easily be done with a file. Simply remove the material from the corner or side in the direction you want to move the grip. Take one or two passes with the file and check the panel to the frame and the alignment of the screw hole. It should only take a pass or two to get the panels to line up. Check the other side before removing any material; it may not need any material removed. Then snug up the grip screw and check the function of the firearm prior to loading and firing.
These guns have 3 distinctive frames identified by First Generation, Second Generation or Third Generation. All of these grips are made slightly over sized and must be fitted to your frame.
These are unusual problems that do pop up from time to time. A small file and some sandpaper will be all the extra tools you will need.
