The S&W Model 41 was created after World War II as a competitive target pistol and became a huge hit immediately. By 1958, S&W had already produced thousands of these guns and was struggling to meet demand. S&W made some changes throughout the years (primarily to the barrel area) and even dropped the model from production altogether in 1992. However, that didn’t last long. In 1994, S&W brought back the Model 41 and has been producing the precision pistol ever since.
